Deaf Mosaic 501. Hosts: Gil Eastman and Mary Lou Novitsky. 16th World Games for the Deaf at Christchurch, New Zealand. XVI World Games for the Deaf (WGD). Scenes of U.S. team rehearsing for two weeks at California prior attending to the WGD. Test of hearing to ensure you have at least a loss of 50 db before competition. 1,200 athletes from 30 countries came to compete in over 140 different events at January 7-17, 1989. Opening ceremony showing different countries that will compete, flag of comite international des sports des sours is shown, and scenes of different athletesí competitions. The U.S. athletes won 75 medals in the athletic events, and 22 of them were gold.
